Ryuk is Lights Shinigami. Ryuk dropped his Deathnote into the human world on purpose to see what kind of havoc it will cause. Ryuk's favirote food in the human world are apples he loves how juicy and sweet they are because in the shinigami realm there apples are dried and salty its like eating sand. Ryuk stays with light till the very end seeing the outcome. Ryuk likes light but can not help him in his quest to rid the world of evil.
